Schipperke The schipperke dogs are considered a water dog. The average weight of these dogs is 15 pounds; they stand from 10 to 13 inches at the withers. This breed appeared in Flanders and was used on ships to control rats and mice and guard barges. In the 19th century these dogs became popular pets for farmers and spread throughout the world. These dogs are good for apartment life, as they are rather small and moderately active indoors. The schipperke dogs are considered a water dog.
